The second largest city in Riverside County in terms of population, Moreno Valley was incorporated fairly recently in December of 1984. It is home to about 193,000 residents. It is also considered part of the Greater Los Angeles area.

The valley on which the city stands was first inhabited around 2,300 years ago. Pictographs and petroglyphs found in the boulders around the area point to this part of Moreno Valley history. In 1850, American settlers moved into the area when California was admitted as state into the United States.

Moreno Valley is currently experiencing a rapid growth as people find it a good place to call home. Top employers, including U-Haul and Lowe’s operate in the region and ensure a robust job market.

The city of Moreno Valley is located in a beautiful region that is blessed with a semi-arid climate with hot summers and mild winters. It offers residents, and visitors a variety of beautiful natural attractions and amenities. There are more than 38 parks and/or joint use facilities. The city enjoys 6,000 acres of open space at Lake Perris. There are recreational facilities, a large variety of shops and retail centers, industrial developments, and various social and cultural activities.

The city has 2 public school districts – The Moreno Valley Unified School District and the Val Verde Unified School District with a total enrollment of 20,500 students. It also has a college; The Moreno Valley College with an enrollment of 10,000 students.

In terms of public safety, Moreno Valley has garnered several awards. In 2010, it  was recognized for its outstanding traffic safety enforcement by winning state and national Law Enforcement Challenges. Again, in 2011, MVPD received First Place honors and Special Recognition for Speed Awareness in the California Law Enforcement Challenge. The MVPD Traffic Division also earned the second place award in the National Law Enforcement Challenge.
